Turner Auctions + Appraisals is pleased to present Forgotten Faces:  Portrait Miniatures on September 8, featuring a collection of miniatures, mostly from the 18th and 19th centuries. Acquired over several decades, primarily from one owner from Louisiana, the miniatures collection features renderings of young and older ladies, gentlemen, boys, and scenes of a battle and a sailing ship. Of varying sizes and media, the miniature portraits were most often keepsakes of loved ones, long before photos and selfies came about to serve the same purpose. Offering over 70 lots, the sale also includes two antique illuminated manuscript pages, several silhouettes (including one attributed to Willian Bache), 19th-century etchings, a Russian icon, and an oil painting from Gumps.
